Gaining planning, on this site, for flats, was a particular triumph, as it was situated in an exclusive road consisting of only detached houses.
The existing house stood to one side of a very generous plot. The site had a fair amount of adverse planning history with planning refusals to either construct a new house, to one side, or divide the existing into a pair of substantial apartments. Extending the existing house and breaking the entire unit into apartments seemed to be, commercially, the way forward, and would work around the issue of constructing a new house to the side. Following a favourable pre- app, with Croydon Council, we prepared, and submitted, a detailed planning application, for 9 apartments. The scheme was approved and built out once precommencement conditions were approved.
