This site consisted of a car sales, and repairers’ operation. It was situated on a street corner, located at the most southerly point of Burnt Oak Broadway. We approached the London Borough of Barnet to see if a wholly residential scheme could be developed, on the site, following the demolition of the existing premises. The Council were initially resistant to the change of use, stating that there would be a loss of employment and that a mixed- use solution would be a more suitable proposal. Through detailed negotiations with the Council, they eventually relented on this stance.
We subsequently prepared, and submitted, a planning application for the erection of 27 flats, following the demolition of the existing structures. This planning application was approved by the Planning Committee and the scheme was built out for a Registered Social Landlord, by way of a turnkey operation, and handed over for their management.
